Webster's Dictionary defines anthropology as “the study of human beings and their ancestors through time and space and in relation to physical character, environmental, and social relations and culture.
As a junior at the University of Mississippi, I needed an elective and chose this class because it fit in nicely with my schedule of business classes. Likewise, Will was needing a humanities class and ended up in this class as well. That is where our lives intersected and a girl who moved around from the midwest to the south had a chance meeting with a boy from sunny California; who chose a southern college, and got more than he bargained for. Little did we both know that elective, Anthropology 101, would change our lives forever!
As the class was coming to an end, Will decided to ask me out on a date. We went to Jinsea, where we ate sushi and closed the restaurant down on a rainy, January night. Just eleven months later, Will got down on one knee at the Watersound Beach Club in Watercolor, FL, on New Years Eve of 2020. This beach holds a special place in both of our hearts as I have vacationed there since I was very young. Will and I have enjoyed vacationing at this spot while making many memories. Making it even more special, Will’s family got to experience the cookie-cutter 30A spot with my family and we all celebrated ringing in the new year, with a surprise engagement. Toasting drinks at Pescado, eating dinner at Cafe 30A, and finishing the night off with a side of fireworks, it marked a memorable start to a new beginning. Moral of this story is to always go to class and interact, for you too may meet your soulmate even from across the country!
